WRONG SIGNAGE
THE other day, as I was travelling in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, near Bank Rakyat, I noticed a signboard indicating the location of Memorial Tuanku Abdul Rahman Putra.
I was stunned.
Tuanku Abdul Rahman was the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The old Batu Road in Kuala Lumpur was named after Tuanku, and there is no “Putra” after his name.
Although I have not been there, I am sure that the memorial in question is that of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, our beloved first prime minister and the Father of our Independence.
There is a difference between Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Abdul Rahman.
Before it causes more embarrassment, I hope the City Hall will take steps to right this wrong.
