KUALA LUMPUR: Four Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) researchers yesterday were praised by the prime minister for winning seven awards at the 2014 British Invention Show.
“Well done to our 4 UniMAP researchers for making us proud by winning seven awards at the 2014 British Invention Show,” said Datuk Seri Najib Razak in a Twitter posting.
The two-day event, held at the Barbican Exhibition Centre in London, ended yesterday and saw the researchers win awards in categories, such as “users”, “industry” and “design”.
PhD student Farah Farhana Zainal’s research product won three awards.
Faculty of Engineering Technology senior lecturer Dr Mohd Mustafa Al Bakri Abdullah’s “Anti Corrosion Coatings” product won Double Gold Awards in the “users” and “industry” categories.
A senior lecturer from the School of Engineering Mechatronics, Dr Shahriman Abu Bakar, won the Double Gold Award in the “design” category and the EuroInvent Gold Medal for his product, the “Intelligent Peripheral Hemodynamic Assessment and Diagnosis Tool”.
Another senior lecturer from the School of Engineering (Computer), Dr Amir Razif Jamil Abdullah, received the EuroInvent Gold Medal for the “Triple Play Services Zero Cross Correlation for FTTH OCDMA System”.
The British Invention Show began in 2000 and is the United Kingdom’s largest exposition to drive futuristic innovations and inventions into the world of business.
