GEORGE TOWN: FIFTEEN artists gathered at the inaugural street art festival, Urban Xchange: Crossing Over, to draw 16 murals, here, recently.
The festival was organised by Hin Bus Depot Art Centre and Berlin-based Urban Nation, a non-profit arts organisation.
The event featured well-known artists such as Ernest Zacharevic of Lithuania, Rone of Melbourne, Elle of New York, Don John of Denmark.
The murals were created between Nov 15 and 23 to add colour to the vibrant inner city.
A first-time visitor to Penang, Antanas Dubra, 27, of Lithuania, painted a picture of a boy gazing at a distant planet.
“The mural depicts my feeling of being far away from home.”
Fauzan Fuad, 27, a Kuala Lumpur-based artist, said art was used to express one’s thoughts.
Workshops, talks and bonding sessions were held by artists at the Hin Bus Depot Art Centre.
The art exhibition and sale ends today.
