KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Senator Council (MSC) today pledged its undivided support towards Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's leadership.
Council president Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Abdul Rahman said the council believed in Najib's leadership as he has proven himself to be a capable and forward thinking leader.
" We at the council believe that as a nation we are on the right track, in our efforts to see Malaysia as a developed country by the year 2020
" As a leader who is committed towards this goal it is only normal to make unpopular decisions to ensure that we reach this goal," he told reporters at the parliament lobby.
Rahim added that since Najib was appointed as the Prime Minister six years ago various baseless allegations and criticisms have been thrown his way.
" This is normal other leaders before him had also experienced heavy criticisms from the people no leader can escape this.
" This does not mean that he is not capable," he noted.
Rahim then urged Malaysians to be focused on the governments efforts to ensure the peace and development of the country.
On another matter, Senator Jaspal Singh who was also part of the council said those who continue to question Najib's leadership seem to have a personal vendetta against him.
"Though we have many problems, the prime minister and his cabinet have managed to solve the problems the people are not suffering." Jaspal said.
