SUBANG JAYA: Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili have agreed upon to meet Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali next week to discuss on ironing out the water restructuring exercise in Selangor.
“I am hoping to meet him next week during the parliament. I have given him the dates however it is subject to him to confirm the dates for the meet up,” he said.
Prior to this, Ongkili said Federal Government’s offer to acknowledge the Master Agreement (MA) on the water restructuring exercise too has expired on April 30.
However, he said the Federal Government are prepared to give Selangor state government RM2 billion to help them to take over the equity of the water concession companies provided they have an adequate assets which will exchange the two assets, Bukit Nenas and Semenyih to Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB).
“The real problem with the state government is that they have to give us the necessary asset for us to fulfil our undertaking which was agreed in the agreement. In order to take over the equity of the concessionaires we (Federal Government) will give them RM2 billion.
“Secondly, the Federal Government will pump in RM7.6 billion in form of loans and bonds, which will enable to give Selangor Air the licence, in order for them to begin their job as a distributor and an operator.
“On their side, they must allow the Hulu Langat 2 project to proceed and give us the necessary permits and the land,” he said this at a press conference after officiating the launch of energy hub in Subang Jaya, at Wisma TNB, today.
He said this is to ensure that the Selangor residents have a long term supply of water, because the internal water sources can only meet 60 per cent of the requirement.
Meanwhile, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has allocated RM18 million to give a new facelift to their customer service centre, branding them as Energy Hub.
“TNB will be spending more than RM1.5 million for every hubs and it is expected to be completed in 2017. 11 more hubs will be built, where three of which will be opened in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor,” he said.
He added that 133 TNB stores in Peninsular will also be given a new look for the convenience of TNB customers.
