KUALA LUMPUR: The government has set a dynamic momentum to steer Malaysia's future to greater heights in the next five years.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who arrived at the Parliament about 11.15am today, had listed down a laundry list of what the country had to do under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).
The prime minister had set a tone that Malaysia could no longer adopt business as usual attitude for it to thrive and prosper.
"In my opinion, we need to build a holistic civilisation of which the society has high values, good morals, enjoys reading, thirst for knowledge, appreciates culture and heritage as well as possesses a first class mentality," he said while tabling the 11MP.
The 11MP has six thrusts namely inclusivity, people's wellbeing, human capital, green development, infrastructure as well as innovation and productivity.
New initiatives had been announced by Najib including setting up a Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) at the west of Negri Sembilan covering Nilai, Seremban and Port Dickson on a proposed 108,000ha.
"The MVV is another new integrated development project to complete the development in the Klang Valley particularly Putrajaya and KL," he said.
Malaysia, Najib said would also have its own National Productivity Blueprint to put the country's on the right track to boost productivity.
For this purpose, a National Productivity Council would be formed, he added.
The prime minister said to boost the nation's competitiveness several key cities namely KL, Johor Baru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu had been identified to push Malaysia's higher.
"Each city will have its own competition masterplan in line with the 11MP's aspirations."
Najib said a ceiling allocation of RM260 billion would be given for development expenditure under 11MP.
He also called for a National Consensus post 2020 to ensure the country's growth momentum remained on track.
