BOGOR: National rider Muhammad Zamri Baba who was involved in an accident during the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) 2015 SuperSports 600cc Race 1 at the Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia yesterday, remains in coma and critical.
Pertamedika Sentul City Hospital director Dr Kamelia Faisal said a team of doctors headed by Dr Muhammad Agus Aulia were monitoring Zamri Baba’s condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“When Zamri Baba was brought to the hospital yesterday, he was unconscious and his condition worsened due to his severe head injuries,” he told Bernama, here today.
Dr Kamelia said doctors would have to wait until Zamri Baba’s condition is stable before carrying out further treatment, including surgery because apart from head injuries, x-rays showed that his liver and chest areas were also affected.
“We cannot do a surgery when he is a coma stage, so we are hoping for a positive response from his condition,” said Dr Kamelia adding that under such conditions it would also not be advisable to transfer him to another hospital, including to Kuala Lumpur.
According to a statement from the Federation of International Motorcycling (FIM) yesterday, Zamri Baba, 31, who rode for MuSASHi Boon Siew Honda Racing was hit by a rider after he had crashed onto the gravel bed during Round 2 of the 2015 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship.
