Several roads closed for KL City Grand Prix from Aug 7 to 9

KUALA LUMPUR: Several sections of roads in the city will be closed for traffic during the inaugural KL City Grand Prix race from Aug 7 to 9, from 6am to 6pm.

Among the roads involved are Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Perak and Jalan P Ramlee.

Race organiser, GT Global Race (M) Sdn Bhd in a statement today said that a temporary International Automobile Federation (FIA) approved race circuit would be build on the streets of Kuala Lumpur.

The construction takes place on Thursday night between 10pm and 6am the next morning.

Throughout the three days, starting 6am onwards, contractors would close the affected roads and progressively close gates and access to properties on these roads.

By 7.30am all public and non-race vehicles will be cleared from the track, and the roads will not be available for use by the general public.

It said, up until the week of the race and during the period to dismantle structures after the race, access to all properties in and around the circuit should not be affected any more than what is currently experienced for normal construction on Kuala Lumpur roads for building construction and road upgrading.

The circuit will begin in front of Suria KLCC beside the Petronas Towers and proceed anti clockwise around a 3.2km circuit.

The race will go through Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Perak before heading back to Jalan P Ramlee to complete the circuit.

More than 100,000 people are expected at the race to be hosted by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and GT Global Race (M) Sdn Bhd.--BERNAMA
