KEMAMAN: A 47-year-old oil tanker driver was killed after his vehicle burst into flames at the East Coast Expressway ( LPT2) near Kerteh this morning.
Mohd Azaha Jusoh, 47, from Kampung Kubang Panjang, Kuala Terengganu, was pinned inside the vehicle and burnt to death on the spot.
The vehicle is believed to have skidded and overturned on the opposite lane at KM315 of the highway, causing two explosions.
The driver suffered 90 per cent burns.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Said Ibrahim said Mohd Azaha was driving the tanker towards Kuala Terengganu from Tanjung Gelam in Kuantan when the explosions occurred.
"The tanker was carrying a total of 45,000 litres of fuel," he said adding that the victim's body was sent to the Kemaman Hospital for post mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving and causing death.
