KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly couple fell to their death when the car they were traveling in plunged down from the fifth floor of a multi-storey car park at Duta Vista Apartment here last evening.
The victims were identified as Paul William Nunis and his wife, Mary Nunis Née Mary Rodrigues, both 71, from Pandan Perdana. Both of them were former employees with Telekom Malaysia and Tenaga Nasional Berhad, respectively.
It is leant that the couple was pinned to their seats and sustained serious bodily injuries. They died on the spot during the 8.13pm incident.
The car, a Perodua Kenari, landed upside down with its’ windscreen shattered all over the floor due to the impact.
City traffic police deputy chief Deputy Superintendent S.Markandan said the incident happened when the driver lost control of his vehicle.
"The couple had earlier attended a gathering at the apartment complex. They were heading out of the building before the victim lost control of his vehicle and hit the wall of the car park.
"They were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for post-mortem, which will be conducted today about 8am," he said.
