UPSR: Sabah shows improvement

KOTA KINABALU: There are 1,612 students in Sabah who scored straight A’s in the 2015 Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination.

During a press conference at Wisma Pendidikan, Sabah Education director Datuk Jame Alip said the number saw an increase of 381 candidates scoring in the examination as compared to last year.

There were 42,728 candidates from government and Chinese schools sitting the UPSR.

More than 50 per cent or 22,972 pupils scored at least C’s in all subjects.

Ten best government schools with good overall performance in UPSR are SK Sri Gaya, SK St Agnes, SK St Francis Convent, SK Tg Aru II from here, SK Bombalai, SK Pasir Putih and SK Bahagia from Tawau, SK Bukit Lalang from Semporna, SK St Benedict from Ranau and SK St Monica from Sandakan.

Meanwhile, SJKC Shan Tao, SJKC Lok Yuk Likas, SJKC Chung Hwa Likas, SJKC Chung Hwa Kg Air, SJKC Anglo Chinese from here, SJKC Yuk Chin and SJKC Sin Hwa from Tawau, SJKC Yue Min from Penampang, SJKC Pui Gin from Sandakan are the best ten Chinese schools..
