PORT DICKSON: A family getaway turned into a tragedy when a seven-year-old girl drowned at a resort swimming pool in Batu 9, here on Monday.
The victim, identified as Nur Nasuha Ashyikin Mohd Hafiz, was believed to have been swimming alone in the pool in the 6.20pm incident.
It was understood that her relatives were performing prayers at their room when the tragedy occurred.
Nur Nasuha was discovered by her cousin who went to look for her. Her cousin then sought help from the resort staff.
They pulled out Nur Nasuha from the water before the Fire and Rescue Department arrived. However, she was later pronounced dead at the Port Dickson Hospital.
Meanwhile, Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent Baharudin Mustapha when contacted confirmed the case. Police, he said, had classified the case as sudden death.
