Another RM50 mil for JDT

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football club today received another shot in the arm when its owner, Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim announced that he would contribute another RM50 million to the club.

Johor Football Association president Datuk Ismail Karim said the contribution was expected to strengthen the club's finances.

This latest contribution was an addition to the RM50 million that was donated by the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar to the club as announced on Jan 10.

"HRH Brigadier General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Mahkota Johor has agreed to pledge another RM50 million to further strengthen JDT's financial position. Thank you Tunku for the contribution," said Ismail through the Southern Tigers Facebook page.

Ismail, who is state secretary, said JDT denied any rumours there would be an individual sponsor for the club because the club's policy was to have long-term sponsors for football development and not sponsors who were interested in publicity.

"I would also like to thank supporters of the Southern Tigers who have also contributed to make up 30 percent ownership in the club through the Johor Darul Ta'zim Supporters Foundation," he said.
