Rapid Penang introduces two new routes

GEORGE TOWN: Rapid Penang has expanded its stage bus service network by introducing two new routes to its coverage.

Its chief operating officer Major (R) Mohd Shukri Abdul Rahman said both routes, 13 and 707 started last Friday.

He said Route 13 on the island plied along Jalan Batu Lanchang from its hub at Paya Terubong to Tesco Tunku Kudin and back while Route 707 on the mainland plied along Juru in Autocity from Bukit Mertajam Plaza to Taman Pelangi and back.

"The new services will reduce traffic congestion and encourage more people to commute in Penang," Shukri said in a statement today.

He said the services would start at 6am and end at 10.20pm daily, respectively with an estimated travel time of between 40 minutes to an hour depending on the traffic condition.

Rapid Penang has some 400 buses plying 53 routes to ferry about 88,000 commuters daily.
