PUTRAJAYA: Armed Forces chief, General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin heads the list of 322 recipients of awards and medals in conjunction with Federal Territories Day today.
The 61-year-old leader who hails from Pasir Mas, Kelantan, was conferred the Seri Utama Mahkota Wilayah (SUMW) which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama together with former Kuala Lumpur mayor (1981-1992), Tan Sri Elyas Omar. In addition, 22 people were conferred the Seri Mahkota Wilayah (SMW) award which carries the title Datuk Seri, namely, Minister in the Prime Minister’s department Datuk Mah Siew Keong; Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry secretary-general, Datuk Dr Ismail Bakar; Prime Minister’s Department director-general of Implementation and Coordination Unit (ICU), Datuk Ahmad Zaki Ansore Mohd Yusof.
Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board director-general, Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab; Senator Datuk Boon Som Inong; Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz; Adviser to the Prime Minister, Dr Khairil Annas Jusoh; Education Ministry deputy secretary-general, Datuk Seri Azmi Lateh.
Other SMW award recipients are Finance Ministry deputy secretary-general, Datuk Hashmuddin Mohammad; Putrajaya Corporation president Datuk Hasim Ismail; Maxcorp Development Sdn Bhd director Datuk Anuar Adam; Bursa Malaysia Berhad chief executive officer Datuk Tajuddin Atan; Ekovest Bhd managing director, Datuk Lim Keng Cheng. DMIA (M) Sdn Bhd board member, Datuk S.P.Subramaniam Pillai; Danau Lumayan Sdn Bhd director Datuk Shaheen Chungtai Mirza Habib Jan; Eithoshin Shoji Co. Ltd. chief executive officer Datuk Tam Yun Tong; Prime Minister’s Office media director Datuk Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad; Kepong division UMNO chief Datuk Rizuan Abd Hamid; Amalan Setar (M) Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk R. Rajendran; and Datuk Ismail Hasnur Rabiain from THB Maintenance Sdn Bhd.
A total of 68 individuals receive the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) award which carries the title Datuk, among them are Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) Domestic News Services deputy editor-in-chief, Mokhtar Hussain; Deputy Education Minister, Datuk P.Kamalanathan; Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Istana Negara, Datuk Awang Kechik Abdul Rahman; Federal Territories Minister’s press secretary, Mohd Hisamudin Yahaya.
Civil Defence Department director-general, Ogu Salim Omar; Shell Malaysia Trading managing director, Azman Ismail; Astro Radio Sdn Bhd chief executive officer, Yaacob Bakhtiar Abdullah; MIC Setiawangsa division president, Rajah Symon; Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad director Roslan Tik.
Meanwhile, a total of 44 individuals received the Johan Mahkota Wilayah (JMW) award while 56 others are awarded the Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah (KMW) medal. In addition, 54 individuals receive the Ahli Mahkota Wilayah (AMW) medal including three journalists, namely, Berita Harian Putrajaya bureau chief, R. Magendran; Kosmo sports editor, Asan Ahmad @ Hassan Ibin and Sin Chew senior journalist and National Union of Journalists (NUJ) president, Chin Sung Chew.
Some 76 others receive the Pangkuan Mahkota Wilayah (PPW) medal, among them Radio Televisyen Malaysia programme producer, Mohammad Rozi Khamis and Utusan Malaysia Putrajaya bureau journalist, Norlizah Abas.
The full ceremonial honours will be conducted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at Istana Negara, Jalan Duta in Kuala Lumpur.
The conferment of Federal Territories Orders, Decorations and Medals which began in 2008 was to show appreciation and recognition for the contribution of residents and non-residents in the Federal Territories.
