PUTRAJAYA: The Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry today received 2,500 applications for the My First Home Financing Scheme (MyDeposit) and recorded 13,187 respondents to the scheme.
Its minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the ministry welcomed the applications and expects to see an increase in the applications in the future.
“We will ensure that all applications are reviewed and checked before they are approved.
“So far there are 10,000 housing units priced at below RM500,000 nationwide. There are plans to add more housing units.
“If this scheme receives overwhelming response, the government will consider reopening the application as the first phase is only offered until June,” he said in a statement today.
Rahman said the incentive payment schemes under MyDeposit were not applicable for other housing programmes that have received subsidies such as 1Malaysia Civil Servants' Housing Programme (PPA1M), 1Malaysia Housing Programme (PR1MA), People's Housing Project (PPR), Federal Territory Affordable Home Project (Rumawip) and Rumah Mesra Rakyat.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday announced the implementation of MyDeposit as tabled in the 2016 Budget.
He said the scheme was implemented to help the M40 group with household incomes of between RM3,000 and RM10,000.
