KUNSHAN, China: In a startling turn of events, Malaysia beat South Korea 3-2 today to top Group C at the Thomas Cup.
Both teams had already qualified for the quarter-finals before the match, but it was a battle to see who goes into the next stage as group winners.
The victory may help Malaysia avoid some of the huge names such as China, Indonesia and Denmark in the last eight stage.

South Korea, who are probably the best in doubles at the moment leveled it up through world No 1 Lee Yong Dae-Yoo Yeon Seong who eased past scratch pair Goh V Shem-Koo Kien Keat 21-16, 21-11.
Reigning national champion Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin, did not disappoint when he kept a cool head to upset world No 16 Lee Dong Keun 21-17, 21-15 to give Malaysia the lead again.
The tie was meant to be decided in the last singles match, when Kim Gi Jung-Kim Sa Rang beat Malaysia's second scratch pair Tan Boon Heong-Tan Wee Kiong 21-14, 24-22.
Chong Wei Feng, dubbed 'team king' by some of his teammates lived up to his reputation when he clinched the winning point following his 21-16, 21-16 victory over Jeon Hyeok Jin.
Malaysia, will next play in the quarter-finals on Thursday. The quarter-finals draw will be held tomorrow after the end of all group ties.
