New Komuter schedule in the pipeline due to upgrading work

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) will carry out infrastructure and system upgrading works in the Klang Valley Double Track (KVDT) area from May 27 this year all the way to 2019.

KTM Komuter passengers have been advised to take note of the train schedule, which would be revised from time to time due to the upgrading works.

The project will commence in four phases: Phase 1A includes Rawang until Simpang Batu, Phase 1B will comprise Kuala Lumpur until Simpang Pelabuhan Klang, Phase 2 (Simpang Batu - Kuala Lumpur); Phase 3 (Sentul - Simpang Batu) and Phase 4 (Simpang Pelabuhan Klang - Salak Selatan).

Project general manager Ismail Said said the project was aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of KTM services.

“We also hope that the upgrading works will improve the quality of railway infrastructure and system to sustain the increased frequency of train services in Klang Valley as well as to improve passengers’ comfort and safety,” he told a press conference on the KVDT project, here today.

Ismail said, in the four-year period of upgrading works, bus services will be provided as alternative transportation.

“Local buses which will arrive every 10 minutes will operate from 5.30 am to 11.30pm daily and will ferry passengers from the Rawang bus station to Medan Pasar.

“As for expressway transit bus, the route will include Bandar Tasik Puteri/Bandar Country Homes, Rawang KTMB Station and KL Sentral.”
