KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) today announced three senior management appointments, involving portfolio rotation in its group, effective July 1, 2016.
In a statement, it said Islamic Banking Group Head and Maybank Islamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Muzaffar Hisham has been appointed Global Banking Group Head while Datuk Mohamad Rafique Merican, current Group Chief Financial Officer, will take over Muzaffar’s former posts.
The role of Group Chief Financial Officer will be assumed by current Global Banking Head Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, it said.
Maybank Group President and CEO Datuk Abdul Farid Alias said the appointments, which essentially involved a rotation of portfolios, were meant to address three objectives.
“The first objective is to strengthen and improve the new roles they will be assuming by bringing new ideas and further heightening the level of energy, while the second objective relates to the continuous development in leadership skills of the appointees, and the third is to strengthen Maybank Group’s Leadership bench strength,” he said.
Abdul Farid said the three appointees have been strong and valuable contributors to the transformation of the Maybank Group.
“This move will give them the opportunity to inject fresh perspectives into their new roles.
“This rotation will also enable them to broaden their skills, gain valuable experience and take up new challenges in their careers,” said Abdul Farid. --Bernama
