[VIDEO] Guan Eng charged with two counts of corruption

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was charged with two counts of corruption and with using his position for gratification, at the High Court here today.

Lim nodded and said "faham" (understand) when both charges under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and Section 165 of the Penal Code were read out to him.

However, no plea was recorded.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali applied for both charges to be transferred to the High Court.

Sessions Judge Roslan Hamid approved the application and transfered the cases to the High Court for mention today.

Meanwhile, businesswoman Phang Li Khoon was charged with abetting Lim in abusing his position.

She was charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code.

No plea was recorded for Phang.

Phang was represented by Datuk K. Kumaraendran,K. Devkumar, R. Raj Shangkar and Chetan Jetwani.

Apandi, who prosecuted, asked Roslan to transfer the case to a High Court.

Roslan transfered the case to a High Court for mention today.
