KUALA LUMPUR: Actor, director and producer Hans Isaac and popular actress Erra Fazira are set to be reunited in the musical staging of Mencari Sumaiyah.
Mencari Sumaiyah, a collaboration between Dira Abu Zahar’s production company Hyper Pictures Sdn Bhd and Hans’ Tall Order Sdn Bhd, marks his and Erra’s first project together since playing lead roles in the 2005 movie, Persona Non Grata.
They were romatically linked before they decided to go separate ways in 2007.
Mencari Sumaiyah sees Erra playing one of the lead characters, while Hans sits on the creative director's chair in the production, set to take place between Aug 8 and 14 at Istana Budaya.
“We went through a rough patch many, many years ago, and we’ve talked about it, also many, many years ago,” said Hans in an interview with the NST.
He also explained that they have remained friends ever since. They have met at various functions and events, and there hasn’t been any issues.
“It’s done. We’re adults and professionals. We’ve moved on.”
They may have dated but they are not about to jeopardise their professional relationship. Hans added that so far, working with Erra on the musical, directed by Dira, has been a smooth one.
“We had a chat on the telephone about the show, and her involvement in it. As the creative director, I guide her how to play the character.
“She comes in for rehearsals and does what she needs to do. She’s certainly paid her dues. She knows that she’s bringing some weight to the show.”
Mencari Sumaiyah revolves around four seamstresses who aspire to become top fashion designers, but their journey to the top may endanger their friendship.
Apart from Erra, it also stars Sherry Al-Hadad, Ruzana Ibrahim, Nadia Aqilah, Aisyah Hasnaa, Afdlin Shauki and Fauziah Nawi.
