MALACCA: Corrupt civil servants would not be given any space to serve in Malacca, warned Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.
He said he would not allow any civil servants found to be involved in corruption to be placed at any government departments in the state.
“I want to remind all government servants in the state; do not get involved in corrupt practices.
“We have signed an integrity pledge which provides enough space for the authorities to initiate investigations into any corrupt conduct," he said after attending the state's civil servants monthly assembly here today.
Idris was commenting on the case of a senior officer with the state Public Works Department (PWD), who was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here last week.
He said the state government fully support all the actions by the MACC to clean up the government departments here from corrupt elements.
The MACC was today granted a three-day remand extension against the 56-year-old senior officer, who has a 'Datuk' title.
