Sultan of Johor launches One Bukit Senyum project masterplan

JOHOR BARU: Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today launched the masterplan of the One Bukit Senyum project, and ground-breaking of the new tower for the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB).

Conceptualised by United States-based architectural, urban planning and engineering firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the masterplan comprises a five-star hotel and branded residences, high-end shopping mall, serviced apartments and grade A office buildings.

One Bukit Senyum has a gross floor area of 6.3 million sq ft and gross development value of RM5.4 billion.

Its developer Astaka Holdings Ltd executive director and chief executive officer Datuk Zamani Kasim said that One Bukit Senyum or OBS was a critical component of the ruler's vision to transform Johor Baru into becoming Malaysia's most prominent city after Kuala Lumpur.

Also present were Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Astaka Holdings founder Datuk Daing A Malek Daing A Rahaman.
