KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia needs to consolidate its current set of disparate initiatives to develop smart cities and form a national smart city alliance to bring all interested parties together.
Malaysian Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) CEO and president Datuk Dr Mohd Yusoff made the call at the Smart Cities Asia 2016 conference and exhibition here today.
He was part of a panel discussion titled 'The Smart Conversation', alongside panelists from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation head of Internet of Things Strategy Jesse Ooi, World e-Governments Organisation of Cities and Local Governments advisor Dr Renato De Castro and VADS Lyfe chief marketing officer Zamry Ibrahim at the second smart cities annual conference and exhibition.
"I think we should think about having a smart city alliance where you can deal with national and international inputs and feedbacks and I think this is urgently needed," he said, pointing out that at present different parties have their own different ideas of what a smart city should be.
