China's CFLD keen to develop industry city in Malaysia

BEIJING, China: China Fortune Land Development Co. Ltd. (CFLD), an expert in the investment and operation of industrial zones, has indicated interest to develop industry cities in Malaysia.

CFLD helped plan and build the Gu’an New Industry City which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak visited yesterday (November 2) as part of his official trip to China. After the visit, Najib posted on Twitter: “CFLD’s Gu’an New Industry City showcased the future of industrial development. I hope to see Msia’s development progress with such dynamism.”

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said CFLD’s interest is still in the initial stages, and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) will follow up further with the company.

“CFLD is big. It’s got 35 industrial cities. Gu’an is just one of them. We will be following up with some of the contacts we developed in China,” Mustapa told Malaysian media here last night.

According to a company statement, CFLD is keen to expand its footprint in the Southeast Asian region and set up its international headquarters in Singapore in June 2016. It will open a Malaysian branch later this month.

“Our track record of developing award-winning industry cities in China, and our consistent ability to attract local and international investments and generate employment with our developments, are testament to CFLD’s experience and capabilities as a leading provider of integrated urban solutions.

“The Southeast Asian region is an important area for business expansion for CFLD, boasting untapped potential in industry development. We hope to bring the same success to our projects with key partners in the region such as Malaysia,” a high-level CFLD spokesperson said in the statement.

CFLD builds and manages new industrial cities from the ground up. The company provides all aspects of public and private services, including roads, hospitals and schools, as well as hotels, factories and shopping centres.
