KOTA KINABALU: The New Straits Times Press bagged three awards in the CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board) Media Construction Award today.
New Straits Times reporter Olivia Miwil won third placing under the Print Media category for her article entitled 'New, safer trail up Mt Kimabalu opens.'
She won RM2,000, a trophy and a certificate.
The second placing under the same category was won Ardyhansah Amat of Harian Metro for his 'Pan Borneo siap 2021'.
He took home RM3,000, a trophy and a certificate.
Meanwhile, under the Photography Award, NSTP photographer Malai Rosmah Tuah received consolation prize, comprising RM500 and a certificate.
There was no winner under the category.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof presented the award in conjunction with the Ministry's Sabah Media Night here, while witnessed by CIDB chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Asri Abdul Hamid.
Ahmad said the media's role in reporting current industry development and issues are vital to ensure that the people, including industry players, are well informed on the country's latest development.
"Media coverage is also an important platform to resolve current issues in order to enhance the performance of industries in future especially in main core fields in the Construction Industry Transformation Programme."
In the event, 17 Sabah journalists received awards for their articles related to construction industry issues.
