DENGKIL: Police arrested 17 men believed to be involved in a gang fight and shooting at a restaurant here yesterday.
Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Ali said in the 2.30am incident, two gangs are believed to have engaged in a brawl after one of them opened fire.
"A preliminary investigation showed that there was a misunderstanding between the gangs, (who were mostly) under the influence of alcohol.
"Because they were drunk, there was a quarrel before one of the groups fled the scene.
"However, two hours later, the group that had fled returned to the restaurant and one of its members fired two gun shots," he said when contacted today.
Abdul Aziz said one of the bullets hit a vehicle, while another could not be traced.
He said police are hunting down several other individuals to facilitate the probe.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting and Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
