KUALA LUMPUR: Twenty eight people of an express bus had a close brush with death when the vehicle they were travelling in caught fire at Km447.5 of the North- South Expressway this evening.
Fortunately, all 27 passengers and the bus driver managed to escape unhurt in the 6.50pm incident.
Rescue operation head Mohamed Sabri A Shamsuden from Sungai Buloh fire station said the victims had already alighted from the bus when they arrived.
“The bus was from the Southern Integrated Terminal (TBS) at Bandar Tasik Selatan heading to Penang. It took about 20 minutes to douse the fire.
“The fire is believed to have started from the rear, however, the cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he told the New Straits Times when contacted.
