SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's mother is fighting for her life after suffering a second stroke about noon yesterday.
Che Tom Yahaya, 83, slipped into a coma following the attack and currently being warded at a private hospital in the Klang Valley.
Azmin said a scan on his mother's brain revealed internal bleeding which was apparently more severe than the first stroke she suffered on Oct 10.
"She was admitted into the intensive care unit on Oct 10 following the first stroke, and alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), the neurosurgeon had successfully cleared the blood clot. She came out strong during post-surgery treatment.
"Then, some nasty bacteria developed in her lungs for several weeks, but alhamdulillah, she recovered well after some antibiotics.
"Last week, she was very active but unfortunately, about noon yesterday she suffered another stroke and has since went into coma," he told the New Straits Times in a text message.
Azmin said his mother, fondly known as Mak Tom, was in critical and life threatening situation.
He said her heart rate showed a good sign earlier today, with her blood pressure stabilising.
However, Azmin said at about 10pm, he was told by the doctor that he condition would deteriorate.
"I am with her in the hospital everyday after office and would like to extend my thanks to all well wishers. Let us all pray for my mother."
