TAIPING: A 20-year-old man was charged at the Sessions Court here today with raping his own biological mother on March 8.
The odd-job worker claimed trial to the charge that was read to him before judge Mohd Sabri Ismail.
He was accused of committing the offence at his home in Kamunting about 7pm on March 8.
The offence falls under Section 376B of the Penal Code, which provides a maximum jail sentence of 30 years and whipping.
Deputy public prosecutor Safiyatun Ahmadun applied to the court to deny bail as the crime involved that of a son and mother who lived in the same home.
Counsel M. Kathan, who represented the accused, said he would leave the matter to the court's discretion.
The judge allowed RM8,000 bail with one surety, and fixed April 21 for mention.
A man and woman believed to be the accused's brother and mother, were also present in court. They left the room without talking to the man.
