PENAMPANG: An auto service centre which had been operating here for almost 20 years went up in smoke yesterday.
The fire, which is believed to have started at around 7.50pm in the rear of the building, destroyed the premises’ structure, as well as car accessories and vehicle spare parts within.
A state Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said a distress call was received at 8.10pm, and eight fire engines from Penampang, Lintas and Sembulan were deployed to the scene within minutes.
The blaze was brought under control by 8.50pm, and the operation ended about an hour later.
No casualty was reported, and the cause of the fire and total losses are under investigation.
