GEORGE TOWN: Penang police have refuted rumours that JJ Poor to Rich (JJPTR) founder Johnson Lee has fled country.

Penang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief ACP Abdul Ghani Ahmad stressed that Johnson is still on the Malaysian soil.

“He has not gone anywhere, he is still here and we are still investigating the case as we speak,” he said, adding that while the police are done questioning Lee, there are still other aspects of the case which needs to be covered.

This, he said in a press conference today, includes establishing the money trail.

JJPTR is a money game scheme which promises lucrative returns as high as 20 per cent to its members.

However, investors started to panic in April when their monthly interest was not credited into their account.

It was also reported later that Lee had said hackers had siphoned RM1.7mil from the company.

Ghani told the press that so far, 26 reports against Lee and JJPTR have been lodged in Penang.

“We have opened three investigation papers on cheating and money laundering,” he added.
