Nada, police nab civil servant drug addict in mangrove forest with 14 others

SUNGAI PETANI: Just three days ago, he was slapped with a RM2,000 fine by the Sungai Petani Magistrate’s Court for a drug-related offence.

However, instead of repenting, the 43-year-old civil servant was nabbed again this morning at a drug haunt deep in a mangrove forest at Segantang Garam, Merbok here.

The man was among 15 junkies rounded up by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (Nada) enforcement team from Kuala Muda led by its chief Shamshuri Yussof at about 6am today.

“This mangrove has been a popular spot for drug addicts in this area for some time and this is the third time we have nabbed the civil servant at the same spot,” he said.

Shamsuri said all 15 addicts were taken to the Kuala Muda police headquarters for drug screening.

In a separate operation at Kota Kuala Muda here this morning, Nada and police also rounded up another 15 drug addicts in the area.
