'Candy drugs' not sold in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: Kelantan police today confirmed that the colourful candy suspected to contain drugs, pictures of which have gone viral on social media recently, is not sold in the state.

State Narcotics Department chief Superintendent Mit Emong said investigations showed the “candy drugs” may, however, be on sale in other states, including Pahang.

However, he said police would monitor the situation closely to prevent local drug syndicates trying to sell the drugs here.

“At the moment, we have not received any information on the candy being sold in Kelantan, nor have investigations turned up anything. Despite this, we hope local parents will monitor their children’s activities, especially the young ones, so that they do not buy this ‘candy’, in case any are sold here,” he said.

Mit said police began investigations into the possibility that such drugs were available in Kelantan after images of the colourful “candy” went viral on the Internet recently.
