12 spa workers among 67 illegals nabbed in Camerons

CAMERON HIGHLANDS: Twelve workers at a spa were among 67 illegals nabbed by the Pahang Immigration Department in an overnight operation in this popular tourist destination.

The department’s enforcement chief Azlinawati Mohd Zubli said the workers, 11 of them women, were busy entertaining customers when the premises was raided at about 8pm.

“They were from Thailand and China. The focus of the operation was Brinchang town and the farming town of Kuala Terla,” she told reporters on location at the conclusion of the operation at 5am.

She said 158 foreign workers were screened, and out of the 67 arrested, 17 were women. They were detained for various immigration offences.

Besides Thailand and China, the illegals aged from 23 to 55 years, were from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar and India. - Bernama
