Warden jailed for a day and fined for accepting bribe [NSTTV]

IPOH: A hostel warden was sentenced to a day's jail and fined RM8,000, in default eight months' jail, for accepting a bribe of RM5,800 from an individual, four years ago.

Judge S. Indera Nehru meted out the sentence after Muhamad Rozi Ahmad Puad, 36 pleaded guilty to the offence when the charge was read to him today.

According to the charge sheet, Muhamad Rozi accepted the bribe from Ahmad Tarmizi Hariff as a reward for not initiating deduction contractor claims regarding food supply services.

He was accused of committing the offence at Sekolah Menengah Agama Al-Ulum al-Syar'iyyah in Bagan Datuk on July 31, 2017.

The offence under Section 165 of the Penal Code carries a maximum two years imprisonment or a fine or both, upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Maziyah Mansor appeared for the prosecution while the accused was not represented.
