Woman in KLCC fiasco slapped with RM3,000 fine

KUALA LUMPUR: A foreign woman who created a stir after she was allegedly barred entry into a luxury boutique in KLCC has been fined RM3,000 for two offences.

Dang Wangi district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the compounds, issued today, were in accordance with Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Measures 2021.

"Two compounds have been issued to the individual, with each compound worth RM1,500.

"The first offence was for failure to adhere to the directive of the Health Director-General when the individual failed to scan the MySejahtera app when entering a premises in an area with internet coverage.

"The second offence was for failure to adhere to the directive of the Health Director-General by not wearing a face mask within the said premises," he said in a statement today.

Police had previously summoned the woman to have her statement recorded following the emergence of a video clip which showed her embroiled in an argument with the staff of a luxury boutique at the KLCC shopping complex.

The argument allegedly revolved around her failure to don a face mask, which was a requirement for entry to the store.

Following the widespread circulation of the video clip, police subsequently launched an investigation over the suspected breach of standard operating procedures.
