PASIR SALAK: A Form One student, from Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Sultan Azlan Shah in Kuala Kangsar, was bullied after he reminded a student not to watch pornographic videos, police said.
State police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said this was what the victim believed sparked off the bullying incident.
"Initial investigations showed that the incident happened on Dec 9 about 3am and the reprimand led to the misunderstanding.
"The victim had told one of the students not to watch porn videos or else he would report the matter to the wardens and teachers.
"This prompted the Form Three student to call another six Form One students to beat up the victim," he told reporters after a meeting with Perak auxiliary police at Dewan Agro Aman Jaya, here, today.
Mior Faridalathrash said following the incident, police arrested 10 students including witnesses to the case between Friday and Saturday.
"They were released on police bail the next day after having their statements taken," he said adding that the victim is still receiving treatment at a hospital in Selangor for soft tissue injuries.
He added that police also confiscated 11 mobile phones which would be sent to the forensic unit for analysis.
He said so far police have received reports from the school principal and the victim's father over the incident.
"The investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further action," he added.
In the viral video clip, a group of students are seen taking turns to punch and kick another student in a school dormitory.
Several video clips lasting between 13 seconds and 30 seconds were uploaded on a Facebook account showing the student being ordered to stand up before he was kicked in the back and punched several times in the stomach.
