MACC detains couple in probe over MHA tender worth over RM1.2 million

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a married couple to assist its investigation into the leak of information in relation to a Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) tender worth more than RM1.2 million.

The husband and wife, aged 44 and 42, were arrested at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday afternoon.

The five-day remand order was issued by Putrajaya Magistrate Tuan Shah Wira Abdul Halim this morning.

The female suspect, who is a director involved in MHA contract selection, believed to have leaked information of a tender worth RM1.2 million to her husband.

In return, the husband's company was appointed as the sub-contractor to another company which successfully acquired the electronic project in 2020.

The couple was arrested under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
