Trio nabbed for house break-ins in the Klang Valley

KUALA LUMPUR: Police busted a house break-in syndicate actively operating in the Klang Valley since 2020 with the arrest of three suspects on May 16.

All three suspects, aged 37 to 43 years old, were picked up at separate locations, in Selayang, Kajang and Seri Kembangan the same day.

Sentul District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said the suspects who moved together, robbed a house in Taman Mastiara on May 14, before the arrest.

"In the 7.25pm incident, the suspects broke into the house where an 82-year-old lived but left without harming her.

"In the incident, a laptop, tablet, four watches, several bank cards, jewellery and RM6,200 in cash were stolen," he told reporters after attending the Sentul District Police Headquarters (IPD) monthly assembly, here, today.

Beh said acting on information at the crime scene, police launched three separate raids in Selayang, Kajang and Seri Kembangan, Selangor on Monday.

"Police seized four mobile phones, some jewellery, two watches, three branded bags, three laptops, three tablets as well as clothes used by the suspects during the incident.

"Besides that, we also confiscated a car, six cutting pliers and one adjustable plier which we believe were used to commit the robbery," he said.

He said the group's modus operandi was to climb the fence of houses located in secluded areas before cutting the grilles to gain entry.

"Checks on the suspects found that all had criminal records, including one with 32 past records. They also tested positive for drugs," he said.

With the arrests, Beh said police believe they have solved at least three cases, one in KL and two more in Selangor.

"We believe this trio is also involved in other burglary cases around the Klang Valley. All three have been remanded for seven days starting May 17 to facilitate investigations under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery," he said.
