KUALA LUMPUR: Former Foreign Minister Tan Sri Anifah Aman has denied claims that he received money from Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB), a company implicated in giving money to politicians, including former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In a statement released last night, Anifah said he was shocked by reports implicating him following a testimony by UKSB administrative manager David Tan Siong Sun during Zahid's trial at the Shah Alam High Court last week.
"It was reported that my name has been recorded in Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd's ledger as one of the recipients of money.
"I am shocked by these reports," he said.
Anifah said he couldn't recall ever meeting Tan or ever receiving any money from UKSB.
"I do not know who they are and I did not have any dealings with them in any manner whatsoever," he said.
Anifah said he was willing and able to assist any investigations by the authorities on the matter to clear his name.
It was previously reported that Tan had testified on June 17 that he made payments to Zahid between 2014 and 2018.
He said those named in the ledger included Anifah, former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
