KUALA LUMPUR: Eleven people including a woman face life imprisonment or even the death sentence after they were charged with kidnapping a Palestinian man last month.
They were accused of kidnapping Omar ZM Al-Belbaisy Raeda at Jalan Mayang here on Sept 28.
The victim was allegedly kidnapped to force him to deactivate computer software and hack into mobile phones.
The accused were Nidarahayu Zainal, Edy Koim Syed, Norakmal Hassan, Dody Junaidi, Tengku Arif Bongsu Tengku Hamid, Naziri Mustapha, Faizull Hardhey Mohd Isa, Iqmal Abdul Rahis, Sufian Saly, Al-Hatim Mohd Fauzi and Raibafie Adnan.
They were charged under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Act which carries the death sentence or life imprisonment'
No plea was recorded from them and all of them were later denied bail.
Magistrate Wong Chai Sia set Dec 15 for mention.
Last week police said they had arrested 18 people in various location in the Klang Valley in connection with the abduction of a Palestinian man in the Jalan Yap Kwan Seng area.
