PUTRAJAYA: Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here after spending almost nine hours inside the complex.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president and Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman was arrested for the Jana Wibawa scandal and other related scandal but was released on conditional bail.
MACC in a statement confirmed that Muhyiddin who is also the Pagoh member of parliament would be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Court tomorrow .
The graft busters said Muhyiddin was expected to face several charges under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and Section 4(1)b of the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001
According to Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris, Muhyiddin is expected to join his supporters for a special prayer at Pas' base in Taman Melewar, Batu Caves.
Earlier today, Muhyiddin was accompanied by his lawyer Datuk K Kumaraendran when he arrived at the MACC headquarters at 11.15am.
Muhyiddin confirmed in a Facebook post yesterday that he had been summoned to the MACC headquarters at 11am today.
Although he did not specify why he was called, it is learnt that it is related to the Jana Wibawa scandal.
The Jana Wibawa scheme was introduced by the government under Muhyiddin's administration to speed up project implementation and boost the country's economy during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The scheme was also intended to increase the capacity of Bumiputera/Malay contractors in the construction industry to be more competitive, resilient and potential.
