ARAU: Police have confirmed that the death of a nurse who was stabbed by her husband at their residence in Padang Nyu, Arau, last Saturday was due to stab wounds that reached her heart and the interior of the blood vessels.
Arau district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Mohd Rodi, said that this conclusion was reached through the autopsy process conducted at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB), Alor Star, yesterday.
"Based on the autopsy results conducted at HSB, the victim, Munirah Abu Bakar, 31, died as a result of stab wounds to the heart and the inferior vena cava," he said.
"However, at this point, we have not yet received the full report of the investigation."
Ahmad Mohsin added that they do not see the need to conduct a psychiatric analysis on the suspect, who is also the victim's husband. This is because, he said, there is no need for a psychiatric evaluation of the suspect.
"We also found that the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine during the incident. The influence of drugs is not considered the cause of the incident but when we conducted a urine test on the suspect, we found it was positive for methamphetamine," he said.
The suspect is currently in custody until Oct 7 to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
