JOHOR BARU: An altercation between a pregnant cashier and a female customer in a supermarket in Southkey here on Saturday is believed to have stemmed from a long waiting time.
Johor Baru (south) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said a police report was lodged by the cashier, who was punched in the altercation and the suspect who allegedly punched the cashier.
He said that at 6.32pm yesterday, the 25-year-old victim lodged a police report claiming to have suffered pain and swelling in the lower part of her eye due to being punched by the suspect.
"Initial police investigations found that the incident happened at 3.17pm yesterday at a premises in a shopping centre in Johor Baru.
"The suspect was said to be unhappy with the victim because she had to wait a long time to cancel the purchase of an item.
"Following the incident, the suspect also made a report at Majidee Police Station at 9.14pm the next day. Police are investigating the case according to Section 323 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement here today.
Raub said police are aware of a video recording which went viral on social media by a user named 'Zuriani Mahmood' at 11.19 this morning.
In the video recorded by the closed circuit camera system (CCTV) which lasted one minute and five seconds, the female customer can be seen punching the cashier in the face while taking the receipt after the payment was made.
