IPOH: A masseur was charged at the Sessions Court here today with physically sexually assaulting his teen stepdaughter on Thursday.
The 49-year-old man pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him before Judge Hilmiah Yusof.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was found to have touched the 18-year-old victim by kissing, licking and squeezing for sexual purposes, where the accused had a relationship of trust with him as a stepfather.
The offence was committed in a room of a house in Taman Seri Rapat here at 12.30pm on June 20.
He had committed the offence under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Act Against Children Act 2017 punishable under Section 16(1) and Section 27(1) of the same act.
It provides a maximum 20-year jail term and whipping.
Section 16 (1) provides for imprisonment not exceeding five years and also whipping not less than twice, while Section 27(1) provides for the accused to be placed under police supervision for not less than one year but not more than three years starting after the completion of the sentence.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Qurratu'aini Khalifah prosecuted while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
Qurratu'aini requested a new date to present the facts of the case and the sentencing of the accused.
The court allowed the prosecution's request, then set July 10 for re-mention.
