JOHOR BAHRU: A Singaporean citizen has requested that the Federal Court uphold his death sentence for murdering his wife's boyfriend in 2013.
Quah Tee Keon, 56, who was also charged with stabbing his wife and causing injury that he knew could result in death, withdrew the application for a review of his death sentence.
"I don't want to ask for clemency, I only ask for the death sentence. Thank you," he said.
A panel of judges, comprising Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, Datuk Nordin Hassan and Datuk Hanipah Farikullah, then cancelled the review application, thus maintaining the death sentence.
Quah, represented by lawyer Bernard George, was arrested after surrendering to police in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 28, 2013.
According to the case facts, he killed a Chinese national named Ruan Chao Qiang at a residence in Taman Mawar Indah, Triang, Bera, Pahang, about 3.30am on Oct 13, 2013.
He also injured his wife with a knife, causing multiple injuries to her neck, hands and back at the same location and time.
The case was handled by deputy public prosecutor Ng Siew Wee.
