ALOR STAR: A Farmers' Organisation Authority (LPP) area general manager and her deputy were charged at the Sessions Court here today for criminal breach of trust involving a cheque valued at RM30,000 five years ago.
Nurizah Noordin, 49, who is the Lubuk Batu LPP general manager, and her deputy Roslin Allias, 40, were each charged for criminal breach of trust before Judge N. Priscilla Hemamalini. Both claimed trial to their respective charges.
Nurizah, in her capacity as Lubuk Batu LPP general manager, in charge of the agency's finances, is accused of cashing a cheque made out to Roslin, valued at RM30,000, and misusing the funds for her own benefit.
Roslin is accused of abetting Nurizah in committing the criminal breach of trust involving the same RM30,000 cheque.
The offences took place at a Maybank branch in Jitra Town, Kubang Pasu on Jan 30, 2019, about 3.30pm
Nurizah was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term not less than two years and not more than twenty years, with whipping, and a possible fine.
Roslin faced charges under Section 109 of the Penal Code, which is read together with Section 409 of the same Code.
Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecution officer Mohd Zulfadli Azharudin prosecuted, while lawyer Mohd Rafie Noordin represented the accused.
The court set bail at RM10,000 with one surety for each of the accused and fixed September 5 for mention.
Both of them posted bail.
