Man refuses bail after pleading guilty to raping stepdaughter, 13 [WATCH]

MUAR: A lorry driver who pleaded guilty to raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter has refused bail.

"I don't want bail," said the man, 63, after pleading guilty in front of Sessions Court Judge Abu Bakar Manat.

The man cannot be named as his victim is a minor.

He had been charged under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code for rape which carries an upto 20 year jail term and whipping.

According to the facts of the case, the father of five raped his stepdaughter at his home in Batu Pahat last month. His wife was sleeping at the time.

The victim later told her teacher about the rape who then contacted the Welfare Department.

A report was lodged and the man was arrested.

Prosecution was handled by prosecuting officer Assistant Superintendent Mohammad Zuwairi Md Noor.

The man was unrepresented.

Abu Bakar fixed August 21 for sentencing.
