SEPANG: One of the suspects detained over the kidnap of a Chinese national and a local woman was the victim's chauffeur. Police are now looking for four suspects in connection with the case.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said following the kidnapping, which occurred on July 11, police shot dead four suspects and arrested six others.

"Based on further intelligence and investigations we managed to retrieve RM1.5 million in cash, six luxury watches, six handbags and several vehicles.

"We have also identified four others, three men and a woman, who are still at large. They are believed to be involved in the case," he told a press conference at the Sepang police headquarters today.

"The Chinese national is a businessman who is involved in various businesses in Malaysia. Investigations revealed that the mastermind of the kidnapping was among the four suspects who were shot dead," he said.

Omar added that all the suspects involved played various parts in planning the incident, executing the kidnapping, collecting the ransom money which was paid in cryptocurrency and exchanging it for cash.

He said the six suspects arrested have been remanded until Aug 14 to assist with further investigations.

It was reported that four men allegedly linked to the kidnapping of a Chinese national and a local woman were killed in a shootout with the police in Johor.
